Sakiko Nomura, a disciple of Nobuyoshi Araki, a.k.a. Araki, is a photographer known for her black-and-white male nudes.
The exhibition, "Sea," will be held at the Shimonoseki City Museum of Art in his hometown of Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, from February 11 (Fri.). The exhibition will be held at the Shimonoseki City Museum of Art in his hometown of Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The first large-scale solo exhibition in his hometown, the exhibition will feature representative works from his early years to the present, including not only the male nudes that have become synonymous with his work, but also new works of flower offerings, which he has been vigorously working on in recent years, and previously unpublished works shot in Shimonoseki.
The works vary in size, from large works with a length of more than 3 meters to smaller ones. The composition is varied according to the work. Nomura says that ever since he was a child, he has always felt that "the most beautiful things are the saddest" when watching the sunset. This is one of the few chances to see his sensibility in the flesh.
On the occasion of the exhibition, a photo book "Umi - 1967 2022 Shimonoseki Tokyo" (B4 size, 104 pages, 3,000 yen) will be published by "Little More" and an artist talk with Yosuke Fujiki Van Gogh (guest curator, Roll) will be held. An artist talk with guest curator Yosuke Fujiki (Yosuke Fujiki Van Gogh, Roll) and a talk event with novelist Shinya Tanaka will also be held.
