Walking down Meguro Mita Street from Meguro Station toward Ebisu Station, you will notice a furniture store called COMPLEX right in front of the driving school. The shop has been producing a variety of furniture by discovering original furniture and hidden gems.

This time, in cooperation with the long-established Japanese furniture maker Akita Wood Works, the chair "Model 4151" by Thonet is being reissued.

Model 4151" is a chair with a very simple form that incorporates art deco design using Tonette's signature curved wood technique. It is no longer produced and is a rare find on the antique market.

Unfortunately, many reprinted or reproduced pieces of furniture are only a surface copy of the original design. Akita Woodworks, however, is a long-established company founded in 1910. As the only brand in Japan specializing in curved-wood furniture, Akita Mokko continues to produce furniture of assured quality.

The production process, which was also shown in the store, was filmed and recorded as a video for this collaboration. The price of 41,800 yen per leg for this labor-intensive process is a bargain.

Originally, the curved-wood technology created by Tonette, with its bolted knockdown system and choice of beech wood, was affordable enough to be used in cafes and other places, yet it was durable, practical, and beautiful enough to be widely used. I am afraid that even this aesthetic has been completely reissued.... I am worried that even this aesthetics may have been reprinted in its entirety.

It is available in three colors: basic natural, chic black with a hint of wood grain, and a soap finish that accentuates the beauty of the wood surface, which has long been familiar in Scandinavian and other European countries. The price is so high that we cannot ask them to keep making them at this price.
