Paul Smith contributes to the development of British fashion. This time, we have launched a new project "&Paul Smith" featuring talented young creators.
Paul Smith & Paul Smith" is a program that calls on the next generation of fashion, design, and culinary talent and gives them the opportunity to work together to create something new. This is not just a collaboration, but a future-oriented initiative that provides one-on-one guidance and advice as well as grants. The program is supported by the Paul Smith Foundation, which was established in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the founding of Paul Smith.
The first winner is fashion designer Pria Ahluwalia, whose brand Ahluwalia combines the sensibilities of her background in India and Nigeria with elements of her native London. She is the creator of the brand "Ahluwalia," and her creations, which fuse the sensibilities of her different backgrounds in India and Nigeria with elements of her native London, show promise for the future.
Paul Smith says, "I was introduced to Pria through a mutual friend, and it was obvious from our first meeting that we shared the same approach to design," and recalls that her attitude toward creation "reminded me of myself when I was just starting out. I was reminded of myself when I was just starting out," he recalls.
The two share the common belief that clothing should be a source of joy, and have created "Alwalia & Paul Smith," a capsule collection consisting of 12 pieces. The design inspiration came from a variety of sources, including Paul's collection of cycling jerseys, Jamaican music record jackets, and nostalgic paintings.

In addition, environmental considerations are an inseparable part of the clothing production process. For this collection, Paul Smith has actively used leftover fabrics from previous Paul Smith collections, leftover organic cotton fabrics and yarns, and biodegradable Lenzing™ EcoVelo™ viscose fabrics. Another highlight of the collaboration is the woven name that crosses the logos of both brands.
The experience of working on this project was special for Pria. Paul invited me into his office and showed me how he worked. And I was overwhelmed by him and his office full of treasures. The collaboration started very naturally, and I am very happy to have worked with Paul and his team.
