Contemporary artist known as the right-hand man of KAWS . Sam Friedman's first solo exhibition in Japan will be held at The Mass.

Armed with three distinctly different spaces, these New York-based contemporary artists have exhibited in a manner that defies existing genres and styles,Sam FriedmanKAWS is pleased to present "Room Service," the first solo exhibition in Japan by KAWS. Even if the name "Room Service" does not ring a bell, the fact that he was the studio manager of KAWS is sure to attract a great deal of attention.

First, a brief introduction to his background. Sam Friedman was born in 1984 in Oneonta, New York. He studied illustration and typography at the Pratt Art Institute, an art college in New York City, and after graduating, he worked at various jobs before becoming the studio manager at KAWS. Later, he began working independently, and has held exhibitions in the United States, Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world.

Known for his style of smooth, flowing, delicate lines and colorful gradations, he has created many abstract works that reflect the organic elements and textures found in the natural world. Inspired by the landscape of upstate New York, where he lives and works, he continues to paint these images on canvas with an approach that is constantly being updated.

At the exhibition, large paintings including large circular canvases and a series of small-scale paintings on multiple canvases, all expressed in such a manner, will be shown. Please feel the serenity and the embodied mental landscape that resides in each of these works. Room Service" will be on view for about a month starting Saturday, May 28.
