Calvin Klein's campaign shows the various forms of love and family. What is the meaning behind the catchphrase "This is Love"?

Calvin Klein is pleased to announce its new "This is Love" campaign. Featuring "LGBTQIA+," the campaign focuses on the relationships of each of the actors: friends, partners, lovers, and peers.

The visuals below were shot by John Edmonds, an African-American photographer born in 1989. He is himself an outspoken sexual minority.

The cast includes John Waters (film director) and Mink Stoll (actor), Sasha Lane and Sergio Lane (both actors), musician Snail Maille and his friends from the "LGBTQ" support group "Trevor Project", Holly Smith (hair stylist) and his fiancée, Pony; Justice Smith (actor) and Nicholas Ash (actor); and members of the House of Extravaganza, a long-established ballroom house in New York City. People with a variety of personalities were chosen as subjects.

They wear the same collection named "This is Love" as the campaign. It consists of casual wear, underwear, and activewear, and is decorated with colors inspired by the "progress pride flag," a symbol of sexual diversity.

Although it is not widely known, Calvin Klein has invested approximately $400,000 to date in NGOs related to LGBTQIA+. This money has been used to support ILGA World, PFLAG National, and the Transgender Law Center.

John Edmonds' photographs show that love, and family, comes in more than one form. The word "diversity" has been used a lot in recent years, and this campaign may be one opportunity to deepen our understanding of "LGBTQIA+".
