Y.M.O., Dinosaur Jr. and Utada Hikaru are all PEANUTS-style. M.O.T.E.'s homage to the records of that era is now on display at Great Books.

It's been a while since people started talking about going back to the '90s, but it's not just fashion that's being discussed, but music as well, and it seems that vinyl records and cassette tapes are very popular among the 20-somethings and younger.

Brands and manufacturers have been working on measures to match this trend, but even before the boom, there were artists doing creative work who were fascinated by records and record jackets.

If you are a HOUYHNHNM reader, you have surely heard of us.M.O.T.E.Three.

He is an artist living in Fukuoka and started to show his collage and illustration works on his Twitter around 2014. Since then, he has designed goods for Carnation, Roman Porsche. PUNPEE, Say Sue Me, and more.

One of his best-known works and lifework is his "PEANUTS-style" collage illustrations that pay homage to existing record jackets.

About 50 works will be exhibited at "Great Books" located in "reload". In addition, T-shirts, postcards, posters, and other goods will be on sale.

Musicians who would normally be revered are depicted in a PEANUTS-like, chunky form, making them seem strangely familiar. Seeing who and when records are selected is one of the best parts of enjoying M.O.T.E.'s work.

The exhibition is already underway. It is raining in Tokyo, but let's take a short break while looking at records.
