A new kind of photography exhibition, in which Keisuke Nagoshi's photographs cross with the gaze of Labo, who sees the photographs more than anyone else.

Keisuke Nagoshi, a photographer we follow regularly, will present an unusual exhibition of his work.

The title is "THAMP". . which means circus in the language of Kerala, India.

This exhibition was taken in 2012, but what makes it different from previous exhibitions is that it will be held in conjunction with the "Lab", which has been printing Nagoshi's photographs for more than 10 years.

The following are the words of Nagoshi.

---------

This exhibition of photographs was taken while he was chasing the Indian Circus.

It is very difficult to enter the Indian circus on one's own, and even when one does get into the circus troupe, the boss continuously throws him out when he is discovered.

. which had never happened before. Despite a series of duds that prevented him from shooting, he did not give up and continued to wander all over India.

Although the final result was not what I had in mind, I was able to find a "unique perspective" that could get to the essence of the photos I had taken unconsciously.

In this day and age, anyone can reach his or her destination smoothly and at any time, as long as he or she has money and a coordinator. However, it was the process of getting to the final destination that convinced me that the artist's personality oozes out of the process.

I have been going to Mr. Shinmura's lab for about 15 years now. I have had my early works and my latest works developed and printed.

When you look at the work of the people called "labs," they look at and work on tens of thousands of photos a day, often looking at photos that none of the artists know about, and they even know more about the other cuts of various photographers than anyone else. Such labs are the last resort for photographers.

I have been helped by Mr. Shinmura for 15 years.

This selection, made from the perspective of a person in the lab who has confronted each photograph every day without a break, and not from the perspective of a designer or an editor, is sure to draw you into a new point of view of photography.

And I just feel the passion for photography.

So some of the works have already been published, but there are a number of works that are being shown for the first time in this exhibition, all with a single edition.

What is important to you, what do you want to convey? Depending on the viewer and the person who chooses, a photo exhibition can be very different.

The Indian Circus series has been given a new twist by the professional photography lab, who selected the images with their own eyes.

Finally, I would like to share with you the words of Mr. Yasushi Sawamura , the representative of "Prism Lab.KICHIJOJI".

---------

I met Mr. Nagoya around 2009 through an introduction by a photographer. . Since that time, I have seen most of Mr. Nagoshi's work in the process of developing film and creating data.

In my personal opinion, the circus photos taken in India have a unique beauty among Mr. Nagoshi's photographic works.

Some of the works had already been published, but I wanted to see them again in the form of an exhibition, and this was my motivation.

Mr. Nagoshi goes to places that are sometimes called "remote" or "minority," and over time, he photographs the people and places he visits in a flat manner, as much as possible, to capture them as they really are.

In 2012, he went to South India to photograph a circus, which had always interested him. Although Mr. Nagoya has overcome many difficult obstacles to produce his work, this shoot proved to be extremely challenging.

I visited the ocean to change my mind. The view that spread out on the beach moved the stopped film counter.

In this age of rapidly changing evaluations, values, and positions, we cannot help but feel that the photographs reflected by Mr. Nagoshi give us something to look forward to. In this exhibition, we have attempted to establish Mr. Nagoya's work as a record of his gaze. We hope you will enjoy the exhibition.
