Artist Nick Atkins will hold an exhibition at KOMIYAMA YUKA BOOKS.

KOMIYAMA YUKA BOOKS, which opened inside the select store GR8, is an art bookstore curated by Yuka Takahashi of Komiyama Shoten, a long-established antiquarian bookstore in Jimbocho.

At "KOMIYAMA YUKA BOOKS," an exhibition of new original drawings by New York-based artist Nick Atkins, entitled "Gushers," will be held.

Atkins is currently the head designer for Supreme, but also works as an artist, creating art in a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, and film.

In this exhibition, 10 drawings from the "Fountain" series, which has been his motif since his early days, will be on display and for sale.

Commenting on the fountain as a motif, Atkins said, "I am interested in fountains not only because of their beauty, ritual history, and fascinating entertainment value, but also because of their symbolic significance as man's futile attempt to control nature. All humans are fountains," he commented. True to his words, the work is surreal, pop, and somewhat satirical in its nuances.

In addition to this work, a silver necklace featuring Fanatic, an original character from his fictional science fiction fantasy "Hanji Party," and the zine "TREMILA," which was released in 2022, will also be on sale in limited quantities. We hope you will come to the reception on January 19 (Thu.).
