Jil Sander+ chose Mackintosh, a brand synonymous with the good old days of rubberized coats, as its collaboration partner for its first collection.
Few collaborations could more directly express the direction of the brand. Jil Sander+ was an attempt to bring back to life the childhood memories of creative directors Lucy and Luke Meyer running around in the fields and mountains. The collection is functional without being "Jil Sander," and has become a part of our wardrobe.
Picking up from the Spring/Summer 2023 season, now in its eighth season, is the sweatshirt.
The stripped-down design, which is based solely on the silhouette and texture, is what one would expect from Jil Sander+, but what is particularly noteworthy is the soft cotton that wraps around the body. Sustainable cotton yarns are made into terrycloth, a type of pile fabric.
The "+" at the end of the brand name reflects the brand's desire to "focus on true functionality and materials. Sustainability is also a requirement for Jil Sander+.
