Hiroki Ishikawa is a professional trail runner. He is known as a pioneer of trail running in Japan, not only competing in all kinds of races in Japan and abroad, but also leading the revitalization of the scene by teaching at events and producing competitions.
One of Mr. Ishikawa's recent lifeworks is trail maintenance in Minamisanriku, located in northeastern Miyagi Prefecture. For the past eight years, he has been working with local residents to maintain a 60-km trail along a former firebreak line in order to bring back the town's symbolic bird, the golden eagle, which once inhabited the area.
This is not only to revive the habitat of the golden eagle, which hunts in the open mountains in grasslands and logging areas, but also to secure evacuation and rescue routes for the town of Minamisanriku, which has been frequently hit by tsunamis.

In addition to the maintenance work, Takuya Suzuki, founder of the "Minamisanriku Golden Eagle Firebreak Project," and local forestry expert Taichi Sato also appear in the film to talk about the significance of the golden eagle's return to the Minamisanriku area. In addition, trail runners from all over Japan will be invited to actually run the trail in 2022, when two-thirds of the route has been completed.
