As summer approaches and we start wearing lighter clothing, eyewear is something that is on our minds. If you are going to wear eyewear as an accent, you will want to choose something well-designed rather than simple eyewear.

POKER FACE, a select eyewear store, has created a special order color for JULIUS TART OPTICAL's flagship model, the AR.

What if TART OPTICAL, the predecessor of Juliastart Optical, which closed its doors in the 1970s, had continued in the 1980s and beyond? Based on this hypothesis, and after reading various historical backgrounds, the color "Grey Smoke Black Brow" was born.

This work is available in glasses and sunglasses. The material used is custom-made acetate made by "Takiron," a top-quality fabric manufacturer in Japan. From among the many colors of gray, a gray with a unique look with a slight blue tinge was selected.

The lenses of the sunglasses are a bluish gray color, the same as the frame color. The lenses allow the eyes to see through moderately, so they can be worn in a wide range of situations.

The gray acetate base is overlaid with a glossy black fabric also made by Takiron. The blow style with stepped down front is a classic design that was popular in the U.S. in the 1950s.

Incidentally, the combination of black and gray was a coloring that did not exist in "Tart Optical" at that time. Still, seeing such a classic look, one can sense the deep respect Poker Face has for "Tart Optical".

Glasses are available in three sizes and sunglasses in two sizes. Only the size with 44mm lens size and 24mm bridge width has a custom nose pad for better fitting. This is because we want more people to enjoy this size, which is said to be the golden ratio of vintage "Tarte Optical".

Another key feature is the custom size stamping on the temples to recreate the frames as they were in the 50s.

This gem, which is the result of a chance encounter between the heritage of "Julia Start Optical" and the editorial skills of "Poker Face," will go on sale in limited quantities on April 28 (Fri.).
