Let's run around Shinjuku area while trying on the new "NIKE Infinity Run 4" by NIKE! These are the people who responded to HOUYHNHNM RUNNING CLUB's♡ call.
HOUYHNHNM RUNNING CLUB♡ invited applications on its Facebook page on a "first-come, first-served" basis, and the number of applicants reached the limit in no time. That's how many people are interested in the comfort of Nike's new shoes.
The meeting place is Alpen TOKYO, the largest flagship store of the Alpen Group, which opened at Shinjuku East Exit in April 2022. The running corner on the first floor has an extensive lineup of the latest running-related gear, from shoes to clothing and accessories. This is a reassuring place for runners.
What is Nike Infinity Run 4?
The "Nike Infinity Run 4" that the members of HOUYHNHNM RUNNING CLUB's♡ will be trying on is the latest in a popular series of shoes with excellent stability and support.
The most distinctive feature is the new "Nike React X Foam" technology in the midsole. Compared to its predecessor, energy return has been increased by 13%, enabling a more comfortable and bouncy running feel with less fatigue. The manufacturing method of the material has also been reviewed to reduce carbon emissions by at least 43% compared to the previous model.
Note also the shape of the sole. The unique wavy shape enables a stable ride and effectively absorbs the impact of each landing, converting it into forward propulsion.
The cool look is as expected from Nike. It motivates you to run and assists you in taking the next step forward.
Running around Nishi-Shinjuku at night!
After a moderate amount of preparatory exercise, I started running! Now it's time to head in the direction of Nishi-Shinjuku. The streets around "Alpine Tokyo" are crowded, so I proceeded at a slow pace, walking and running so as not to get in the way of pedestrians.
Soon after, you will arrive at Shinjuku Chuo Park. While taking your time to enjoy the resilience and cushioning of the "Nike React X Foam" installed in the "Nike Infinity Run 4," you will be running through the park.
The group run was held in early August. It was hot and humid even though it was nighttime, and the runners were sweating in no time. But if you let it be that way, it was pleasant.
After a circular tour of Shinjuku Chuo Park, leave the park and pass in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. After a short walk around Shinjuku Central Park, we will leave the park and return to "Alpine Tokyo.
Returned to "Alpine Tokyo" to finish! I finished my 6-kilometer run. It is not a big distance for a regular runner, but it is hard to run alone in this hot and humid weather. But when you run with others, it feels like no time at all.

How is the "Nike Infinity Run 4" as a running shoe? On behalf of the members of HOUYHNHNM RUNNING CLUB♡, we asked Hideaki Makino of BEAMS, who has the most agile feet in our club, for his honest opinion.
I was surprised by the perfection of the new midsole material, Nike React X Foam. While it is soft and cushioned, it is also resilient, so you can take your next step quickly and without hesitation when you land. Overall, I felt that this is a pair of all-rounder shoes that are easy to handle without any quirks.
Incidentally, after this group run, Makino-san changed his clothes and headed home with his feet still on the ground. That is the styling shown here.
