FUMITO GANRYU has just announced a new pair of sneakers. It is a pair of sneakers made in collaboration with OAO.
For those of you who don't know, is a footwear brand that started in 2020. Based in Tokyo and Kyoto, the company makes sneakers with a look and feel that you won't find at major sports manufacturers.
OAO MONA for FUMITO GANRYU ¥55,000
This pair is a solid all-black design based on 's model "MONA". Although they are sneakers, they have the look and feel of leather shoes by incorporating details of dress shoes.
In terms of function, instead of shoelaces, a magnetic dial system made by Fidlock, a German buckle manufacturer, is used. When putting on the shoes, one only needs to put the foot in and turn the dial, which is easier than tying shoelaces. Another key point is the choice of matte-textured waterproof cowhide leather.
Another highlight is the visuals directed by stylist Keita Inotsuka. Photography is by photographer Kohei Kawatani, winner of the Kassel Dummy Book Award 2020 and Japan Photo Award 2019.
The sneakers will go on sale on August 25 (Fri.). They will be available at Fumito Ganryu's online store, stores that carry them, and O.A.O.'s online store.
