The largest-ever solo exhibition by Koichi Yairi, an artist who has attracted attention in the art and culture scenes in Japan and abroad, will be held at the art space "SAI" in "MIYASHITA PARK" from January 27 (Sat.), 2012.

Yairi's work is characterized by a "collage of techniques" that makes full use of painting and printing techniques, and his use of canvases shaped into various shapes, which at first glance appear to be pop, yet are somehow quiet and subtle. One of the charms of his exhibition method is that he weaves an original story around the entire exhibition space, as if he were reading from a picture book, and we are sure that this solo exhibition will be just as exciting.

After successful solo exhibitions in London, Seoul, Hong Kong, Fukuoka, and Tokyo, this exhibition is a culmination of Yairi's career and a place for him to explore new forms of expression.

The exhibition space is divided into two sections, one of which is devoted to canvas works that serve as illustrations, based on stories inspired by the artist's own life, in line with the artist's past style.

In the other space, more complex and sophisticated large canvases will be exhibited as an opportunity to test the potential of the production method using both print and paint, which is different from the narrative-based exhibitions of the past.

The layered balance of detail in his works is a perfect harmony between the printing media, which has seen remarkable technological development in recent years, and the ancient technique of painting art pieces. This is the "collage of techniques" that characterizes Mr. Yairi's work.
