The "Étrier" was Françoise de la Perrière's first Carré design, created in 1964.
Perrière, an indispensable designer for HERMÈS, has put the stirrups of yesteryear on the chopping block. Floral, starry, and legendary animal motifs are interspersed with armor and ribbons. The word "étriers" is French for stirrups.
This season, a hat using this "etrier" was created.
One is "Nevada" and the other is "Fred Etrier". The former is a so-called "cap" type, and each piece has a different pattern (!) depending on the cut and combination. The snap button has a shiny glossy finish. The snap buttons are made of "crew de sel," which gives off a glossy sheen. The latter is a bucket hat-based design, reversible with "etrier" on the front and plain on the back.
Both materials are toileovan, consisting of 80% nylon and 20% elastane. They are lightweight and gently wrap around the wearer's head.
A silk shirt clad in "etrier" appeared on the runway of the Spring/Summer 2024 Men's Prêt-à-Porter collection.
