Hong Sang-soo's depiction of human silliness enters a new chapter. His 28th feature film, WALK UP, is now in theaters.

When I think about how to enjoy fashion, it is one thing to admire eccentric clothes, and another to be excited by trivial changes and new attempts at familiar brands.

Films are no different, and Hong Sang-soo's new film "Walk Up" must surely fall into the latter category. Those who have been following his work up to now will feel the familiar atmosphere of his films, but also a bit of freshness. This is the kind of film that you will enjoy.

Byung-su, a film director, and his daughter Jung-su, who aspires to work in the interior design field, visit an apartment owned by Hae-ok, an old friend who works as an interior designer. The apartment has a restaurant on the first floor, a cooking school on the second, a rental house on the third, a studio for artists on the fourth, and Hae-ok's workshop in the basement. When Byung-su returns, his daughter Jong-su is gone. As the story moves up one floor of the apartment building after another, it soon branches out into four chapters, twisting the human story of Byung-su and the women around him in unpredictable directions.

The style remains the same, with a fixed camera and long takes that thoroughly scrutinize human speech and behavior. However, the stories of the main character, filmmaker Byun-soo, and each of the four women intersect and weave together like parallel worlds.

Kwon Hye-hyo, known for his role as Deputy Director Kim in the drama "Winter Sonata" (02) and for his roles in "New Infections Peninsula Final Stage" (20) and the Netflix drama "Parasite - The Grey" (24-), will play the role of film director Byung-su. This is his first solo lead role in a Hong Sang-soo film since "Then" (17).

In addition, Lee Hye-young, one of Korea's best-known actors, and Song Seong-mi and Cho Yuni, regular actors in director Hong Sang-soo's films, provide support and make Byun-soo's life in limbo. In a Hong Sang-soo film, the main characters, as well as the supporting cast, are a highlight of the clumsy loveliness of their supporting characters.

WALK UP," Hong Sang-soo's 28th feature film, has already received a high rating of 97%FRESH on Rotten Tomatoes, the world's leading film review site. The film has also been applauded at the 70th San Sebastian International Film Festival and the 47th Toronto International Film Festival.
